Stop Censorship

This website provides tips and tricks on using a Joomla 1.5 CMS website. While many excellent websites assist new Joomla users, very few share the experience of more advanced end-users and/or provide solutions to less common design issues. We hope to fill this gap with a select number of tutorials based on our experience working with the system.

We share our experience as end-users and Joomla enthusiasts. Joomla is a great system to build websites and disseminate information on the Internet. Hence, this site was launched after we developed several websites for projects we manage in developing countries, sometimes running into problems and finding solutions and ideas we want to share with you.

We are guided by the principle that open source solutions be made available to the community at no or low cost and we advocate for free software whenever the developers feel comfortable with the concept. Other than the template (JSN EPIC Pro - a free version is also available), we solely use non-commercial extensions for this website - extensions that are similar to commercial Joomla extensions or that even surpass the functionality of these. Some extensions may have been upgraded meanwhile and may be offered for a fee such as the DOCMAN component.

We also use applications such as AmMap that are not opensource, but that are for free for (non-) commercial purposes.

Whenever we refer to the JED, we refer to the Joomla Extension Depository where our favorite extensions are available. Please always use the JED for your website's safety.

Please leave us a note if you have any suggestions, ideas, etc. We do add new tutorials each month, so please visit us again.

This website and many others will display better if you use the Firefox web browser. Simply go to: GetFirefox.com . To see the slide shows and maps, Java and Flash need to be installed. You can get Sun Java here. You can get Adobe Flash here.

Thanks for doing this. This is a useful reference tool - no nonsense and to the point. Nice to see something different on the web.
