You must have heard about them - the horror stories of people loosing their data: pictures, files, and back ups of the Joomla sites wiped out. The sad thing is, it happens all the time.
So, as a new year's resolution, we have decided to go further. Not only do we make back ups of all our production sites (see this tutorial), but we also always have two separate back ups in the house. That is of course great as long as the house doesn't burn down or when no-one breaks in. So we are now making a third back up each year and place it in the safe in the bank - a five minute walk away from the other back ups.
In addition, we also maintain an online repository using Joomla on a sub domain where we park important files as well, nicely protected by Joomla, DOCMAN and PDF passwords. Another solution for an online repository is developed by jsmallsoftware.
